ATC congratulates alumni Chris Robertson and Rocco Spoon, Jr. for receiving the 2007 NJACT Perry Award in their categories. NJACT (New Jersey Association of Community Theatres) sponsors the equivalent of the Tonys for the state's community theatres. This year 247 shows and all their casts were in the running! Chris received the award as Outstanding Youth Actor in a Play (his second!) for his portrayal of the death row inmate Matt Poncelet in DEAD MAN WALKING. The show, his co-star, Melissa Surow, and the director, ATC's artistic director Kathleen Kellaigh, were also nominated. Rocco received the award as Outstanding Ensemble Actor for playing Bernard in Nutley Little Theatre's DEATH OF A SALESMAN. Both Chris and Rocco completed the conservatory program at ATC and are pursuing professional careers: Chris is currently enrolled at the School for Film and Television in NYC and Rocco is working with various theatre companies as a performer on both sides of the Hudson. |
